Who we are
With so much political commentary and breaking news released every minute, it’s harder than ever to confidently stay informed on the legislation that directly impacts you without spending hours sorting through headlines and opinion pieces. Too often, Congress and state legislatures vote on key issues before most people even know the bill exists.
Record House was founded to change that, to cut through the noise and bring clarity back to democracy.
Record House gives citizens a clear view of what’s happening in government, without the spin, commentary, or partisan framing. Through one intuitive platform, users can track daily votes, follow the issues that matter most, and hold their representatives accountable through informed engagement.
By combining unbiased legislative data with AI-driven context, Record House helps citizens see how their values align with both the people and the policies shaping their lives. The result is a personalized view of democracy, revealing how closely representatives’ decisions and legislative actions reflect the beliefs of those they serve.
At our core, we believe in a democracy where transparency is effortless, understanding is accessible, and accountability is undeniable.
Record House exists to make that vision real, helping every citizen move beyond headlines and partisanship to see their government clearly, and take part in shaping it.
Meet the Team
John Simpson - Co-founder
John was born and raised in Colorado and is currently based in Encinitas, California. He studied Political Science and Government at the University of Colorado Boulder and has spent the past several years working at fast-growing cybersecurity startups, where he built global partnerships, and helped scale solutions from early-stage concepts to enterprise deployments. His work across early-stage companies gave him a deep appreciation for how important it is to build tools that act as a genuine source of truth in a noisy, fragmented information landscape. Record House grew out of what he was seeing in everyday conversations: technology that was supposed to connect us was instead creating echo chambers, amplifying misinformation, and eroding any shared sense of truth. He found it increasingly difficult to have meaningful discussions because everyone seemed to be working from different “realities,” shaped by algorithms rather than facts. He wanted something better, something simple, trustworthy, and modern. Record House became that solution: a clear, accessible place where anyone can understand legislation, voting records, and the actions of their representatives without noise, bias, or unnecessary complexity. Outside of work, John spends his time surfing, mountain biking, and enjoying Southern California with his girlfriend and dog.
Rob Simpson - Co-founder
Rob was born and raised in Colorado and is currently based in Denver. He studied history and economics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and later earned a Master of Science in Information Systems from Regis University. Nearly a decade of experience working in product has shown him how powerful well-designed tools can be, especially when they make complicated information easier for people to understand. Record House grew out of his own frustration with the noise, negativity, and confusion that often surround political information; he wanted a straightforward way to see voting records, legislation, and real facts without all the hype. His hope is that Record House becomes a place where anyone can access clear, unbiased information, feel more connected to the process, and form their own opinions with confidence. Outside of work, Rob spends much of his time skiing, kayaking, rafting, camping, and exploring Colorado’s outdoors with his fiancée and dog. He also enjoys working on creative side projects that blend design, technology, and civic engagement.
