Simpson Brothers Collective LLC, doing business as Record House ("Record House," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the RecordHouse.io mobile application and related services (the "Service").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Service. By using RecordHouse.io, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Record House does not currently sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, and information that is automatically collected when you use the Service.
Information You Provide
Account Information: Email address, username, password (encrypted), sign-in credentials
Profile Information: Display name, preferences
Address Input: Residential address you enter for district matching (not permanently stored — see Section 5)
District Information: State and voting districts (Congressional, State Senate, State House) derived from your address
Policy Interests: Policy areas you select during onboarding to personalize your experience
Following Activity: Representatives and bills you choose to follow, along with your notification preferences for each
Alignment Quiz Responses: Your answers to political stance questions used to calculate alignment scores with representatives and legislation
Communications: Support requests, feedback, email correspondence
Subscription Data: Information required to verify subscription status (billing handled by Apple/Google through RevenueCat)
Information Collected Automatically
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, screen dimensions
Device Fingerprint: Anonymous device identifier used solely to prevent abuse of the free trial offer (see Section 9)
Usage Data: Screens visited, interactions, time spent
Technical Data: IP address, crash data, diagnostic logs
Analytics: Aggregated and anonymized usage patterns
Location Information
We do NOT collect continuous GPS or device-based geolocation
We do NOT track physical location or movements
All location information comes from addresses you manually enter
We store only your state and district information, not your street address, city, or zip code
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:

Match you with your elected representatives based on your voting districts
Display legislative data and bill information relevant to your districts and interests
Provide notifications for representatives or bills you follow
Generate AI-powered summaries and political classification of legislation
Calculate alignment scores between you and representatives/legislation based on your quiz responses

We share information with service providers only as needed to operate the Service.

Google Civic Information API – District and representative lookup
Google Sign-In – Optional authentication
Firebase – Authentication, secure database storage, analytics, crash reporting
Apple Services
Apple Sign-In – Optional authentication
App Store – Subscription billing and management
Subscription Management
RevenueCat – Subscription status verification and management
Apple and Google process all subscription payments
Record House does not store or process credit card information
Search Services
Algolia – Bill search functionality (only bill metadata is indexed; no personal data)
Email Services
SendGrid – Transactional email delivery (account verification, password reset)
App Delivery
Expo – App delivery, updates, and crash reporting
AI Services
Artificial intelligence services – Legislative summaries, bill classification, political alignment analysis
Only bill text, titles, and metadata are sent to AI providers; no personal user data is shared
Data Sources
Legislative data, representative information, and voting records are sourced from publicly available government databases and APIs, including Congress.gov, state legislature official websites, and licensed data providers. We are not affiliated with any government entity.
Anonymized and Aggregated Data
We may share anonymized, aggregated, or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you with third parties for research, analytics, advertising, or other commercial purposes. This data may include aggregated usage statistics, general demographic trends, or legislative interest patterns. We reserve the right to monetize such anonymized data.
Personal Information
We will not sell your personal information (such as your email, name, or specific activity) to third parties without first updating this Privacy Policy and providing you with notice and the opportunity to opt out.
We do NOT currently share your data with:
Political campaigns or parties
Advocacy organizations
Marketing companies
Data brokers
Social media platforms (other than authentication)
4. Data Storage and Security
We use industry-standard security practices, including:
Data encryption at rest (Firebase)
Encrypted HTTPS for all network communication
Secure password hashing
Strict access controls for internal systems
Regular security audits and monitoring
We collect only the minimum information required to operate the Service.
5. Address and District Information
Your location privacy is important to us.
You manually provide an address for district matching
We validate this address using Google services
We do not store your street address, city, or zip code
We store only:
State (e.g., "Massachusetts")
Congressional district
State Senate district
State House district
District data is required for core functionality.
If you delete your account, all associated district information is deleted.
6. AI and Automated Processing
We use AI systems to enhance your experience through:
Legislative summaries (plain-language explanations of bills)
Bill classification (categorizing legislation by policy area)
Political alignment scoring (comparing your quiz responses to bill classifications)
AI Data Handling
Only bill-related text and metadata is processed by AI services
No personally identifiable information is sent to AI providers
Your alignment quiz responses are stored securely in our database and used locally for calculations; they are not sent to AI providers
AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or biases and should not be considered authoritative
We encourage users to review official bill text and consult government sources
7. Children's Privacy
You must be 13 years or older to use the Service
Users under 18 must have consent from a parent or legal guardian
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13
Parents may request account deletion at support@recordhouse.io
If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete the account promptly.
8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
We keep this simple and straightforward:
Update Information: You can update certain account details directly in the app.
Delete Your Account: You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings.
Support Requests: If you cannot access the account deletion option, email support@recordhouse.io and we will assist.
If you live in a region that grants additional privacy rights (such as certain U.S. states), we will honor those rights as required by law.
We do not offer data export or portability tools beyond what is required by applicable law.
9. Data Retention
Account Data: All personal account data, including your profile, policy interests, followed representatives and bills, quiz responses, and alignment scores, is deleted within 30 days of account deletion
Device Fingerprints: Device fingerprints used for fraud prevention are retained permanently to prevent abuse of free trial offers, even after account deletion. These fingerprints contain only technical device characteristics (platform, OS version, screen dimensions), not personal information, and are not linked to your user account
Anonymized Data: Some anonymized or aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes
We do not retain past addresses or location history.
10. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
RecordHouse.io uses minimal tracking technologies:
Essential cookies (for login and app performance)
Firebase Analytics (aggregated and anonymized)
Crash reporting tools
We do not:
Use advertising cookies
Track cross-site behavior
Share analytics data with advertisers
Use third-party marketing trackers
You may disable analytics through your device settings.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our Service evolves.
Changes will be communicated through:
In-app notifications
Updated policy text in the app
Updated "Last Updated" date
Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the changes.
